“Truth is the only safe ground to stand up on.”
-Elisabeth Cady Stanton

This is absolutely true. In life almost everything is uncertain and you must tread lightly and beware of everything. However one thing allows you to put both feet firmly on the ground. That is truth. Truth allows people to communicate and feel safe. When you tell the truth all the time you will be able to provide a place where people can put both feet on the ground.

Detail attention

Attention to detail
7 of 10
When you double check your calculations for math problems or cite source carefully in a research paper, you’re paying close attention to detail. That skill comes in handy in any work place, whether you’re maintaining a database, keep a log of the hours you spend with clients or write email.
John wooden, UCLA’s former great basketball coach who led his team to ten consecutive national championships, was asked what he attributed his success to. Among a number of things, he mentioned that paying attention to details was one of the most important qualities for successful coaching and for high achievement in any worthwhile purist.  He even paid attention to how his player would lace up and tie their shoe strings. If they didn’t tie them correctly, he would teach them how.
Detail may be small things, but form small things to details come great things; therefore, pay attention to details and you will experience substantial progress in your overall educational attainment.

“Everyone is their own architect of their own learning.”
-Claudius

This is absolutely right. When it boils down to the thick of it everything is up to you. No one can force you to learn in school. The only person that can make you learn and succeed in school is you the student. Also as you grow and go to college the person that picks what you learn about(what major you pick) is only you. Also once as an adult you can choose to learn or ignore whenever someone is trying to teach you. That is why you need to do the right thing and make sure your building is massive and full of knowledge.

Under pressure

Cool Under Pressure
6 of 10
Very few students enjoy taking test. Yet functioning well under pressure is crucial to your future success. Try thinking of the pressure of testing as practice for the work world’s own explosive situations. You could someday find yourself meeting tight deadlines, speaking with irate customers, wielding a scalpel or handling dangerous chemicals.
The best way to curtail pressure to even eliminate it is to prepare. Apply the motto “Be prepared” holds true first time and every time. Prepare for that test, and you won’t worry about it. In fact, it will be your chance to shine, to reveal the hard work you have put into preparing for the test. You will be rewarded for the effort you have thrust into your studies. Preparation removes fear. When you are prepared, you will not fear. Preparation helps you maintain your cool under pressure. Preparation generates energy and enthusiasm; therefore prepare and coolness under pressure is sure to abound.

“Start with what is right rather than what is acceptable.”
-Peter F. Drucker

Drucker is very right when he says this. Even though something is acceptable doesn’t mean it is right. What people need to do to achieve greatness is just do the right thing. The only way to do that is when you start something is think what is the right thing to do, then do it. It is  socially acceptable and legal to smoke at age eighteen, however it is wrong to smoke so even though it’s acceptable on my eighteenth birthday I am not going to smoke.

Initiative

Initiative
5 of 10
Initiative is creativity, inventiveness, originality, ingenuity, imagination. Every time you respond in class, every time you choose your own research topic, every time you put together your own interpretation of a piece of literature, you take initiative. And future employers value can-do professionals who come up with new ideas and chart their own course through projects, employees who are self-relentless. Self-relentless people are self-starters who don’t procrastinate on getting the job done. They know what is required and do it. They don’t wait to be told many times. Succeeding in high school, college, and in the career world is taking the intiative.

“To be great—concentrate.”
Orson sweet Mardin

Mardin’s words can be applied to any situation. This is simply because concentration allows you to reach anything. When you concentrate on one specific thing you strive toward it hard and will reach it. In school when you concentrate you hone your skills and become a great student. It is know that monks who concentrate and train all their life to be able to do incredible things like index finger stands, or breaking a coconut with their finger.

problem solving

Problem-Solving Skills
4 of 10
Problem solving goes far beyond your math textbook. Every assignment is an opportunity to weigh all possible solutions carefully and choose the one you think is best. As a working professional, you’ll be solving problems regularly, whether it’s fixing a bug in a computer program or overcoming budget shortfalls. Problem solving situations occur extensively and frequently, therefore, be ready when then come.
When problems or challenges occur, some people look at them at negative experiences, as a crisis. These people are the ones who live day by day with gloom and negativism in their attitude. But the really successful people, those who are cheerful and optimistic, are those who look at problems as opportunities, opportunities to learn, grow, expand their horizons, and make new discoveries. They look on the Brightside of things and live happy lives.

“Education is a marathon-not a sprint.”
-Anon

I believe that this person is completely correct. Very few are able to just run through and learn everything. Even those who are able to learn quickly take their time to make sure they know everything. However the correct way to learn is through going step by step. You learn the most and get the best results when you take your time and learn just like in life.

Teamwork Skills

Teamwork Skills
3 of 10
Every time your class breaks into groups to tackle a challenge, you build teamwork skills. In college, you'll continue to have these opportunities to practice voicing you opinion, listening and responding to others, and reaching compromises. By the time you leave college, you can be an expert in this important workspace skill.
Together
Everyone
Achieves
More
Individually you can achieve so much, but when you work with others for a common cause, he same objective, you can accomplish a tremendous amount more. You synergize you talents, knowledge, and skills with those whom you work. All members of the team are edified together, a type of education you can’t obtain by working alone.

“The man who has no imagination has no wings.”
-Muhammad Ali

Imagination takes anything and makes it amazing. Imagination has given man the ability to dream new things and advance himself. However if you have no imagination like Muhammad Ali says you will go nowhere. If you can’t imagine it how do you expect to achieve it? Imagination allows us you spread our wings dream and gives us the hope to become better. I use to imagine going to a state championship all the time. That thought lead me to work hard and now my team is a contender for the Californian state championship for lacrosse.

speaking skills

Speaking Skills
2 of 10
When you’re assigned a class presentation, think twice before dismissing it as an unimportant part of your education. Employers look for speaking skills in job applicants, who may have to give presentations to clients or represent their organization in the field. It’s never too soon to practice good eye contact and other public speaking techniques.
According to The Book of Lists, the fear of public speaking ranks number one in the minds of the majority people. Far above the fear of death and disease, comes the fear of standing in front of a crowd. Joel Wiener noted author and public speaker wants to help people overcome that fear.
“The biggest fear is public speaking, with 15 percent of American experiencing a dramatic fear of it,” said Dr. Michael Telch of the Laboratory for the Study of Anxiety Disorders (LSAD) in the Department of Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. “People have had to turn down jobs, and certainly students have dropped classes because of it.”

Regardless of your occupation, your success depends a great deal upon your ability to communicate effectively! Whether you’re running a meeting, selling a product, making a presentation, motivating co-workers, or just communicating one-one with others. You’ll get far better results if you can speak persuasively, smoothly and intelligently

“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘press on’ has solved and always will solve the problem of the human race.”
-Calvin Coolidge, 30 president of the United States
President Coolidge is very right a persistent attitude does far more than anything else. When you work hard you surpass people with talent. When you work hard nothing can stop you. The only way regular people were and still prosper is through never giving up. Someone with a great mind but is lazy will be head to head with someone you buckles down and works hard. The way my team was able to be southern state champions and on our way to Californian state champions is through all of are hard work and never giving up.

writing skills

Writing skills
1 of 10
Communication is at the top of the list of skills that employers look for. And communication in the workplace often means writing.
Health professionals keep patents charts, researchers depend on the money they collect by writing grant applications, software engineers write technical specification, and nearly everyone writes e-mail to people inside and outside their organization. And before you even get the chance to interview for a job, you'll need to present yourself in cover letters and resumes.
So by taking writing serious and doing your best on every research paper, every lab report you write, every post you write on your blog site, and every writing activity you engage in, you’re preparing yourself for a good career.

“Failure is only postponed success as long as courage coaches ambition. The habit of persists is the habit of victory.”
-Herbert Kaufman
This is very true. Failing can lead to victory if you take the opportunity to change it. The only way to do that is through courage and hard word. On my team when I just joined we lost the game but we did not stop. Through that loss we worked harder and didn’t give up and now we are southern Californian state champions. Then soon to be all Californian state champions.

“To see what is right and not to do it is want of courage.”
-Confucius
What this quote is saying is that if you do not do what is right even though you are given the opportunity mean you lack in courage. I believe this is very true. If you do not stand up for your beliefs or what you think is right who will? When you are in a situation where you see what is right the only way to prove you have courage you is to do that thing and show everyone.

-Matt Biondi
This is very true. Failure is something that cannot be avoided and you will experience any given time during your life. However you should not just give up. What Biondi is saying is that even though you may fail you can change it to greatness. With every lose it gives you motivation to work harder. If you work hard and never stop what you are doing you will be able to go up and beyond your expectations.

Answer every question
Unless there is a penalty for wrong answers, try to answer every question, you may be able to get partial credit for those you begin but don’t complete correctly.

“Gold medals don’t make champions…. Hard work does.”
ANON
This is true and will always be true. The only way to get something is through work. The achievement you want to reach is not just going to happen you have to go out and seize it. When you work hard that is when things start to go your way. My coach told us once we started out decent into state championship last week he said that what happened before doesn't matter and the only way to be number one and keep the bulls-eye  on our back is to work hard and always give it our all.

learning on the line

Online Learning
Part 1
Read between the lines
Make a judgment about the sit’s and responsibilities based on your own analysis of the site on the information it contains. Here are some ways to do this:
-Look for facts you know or can check with a trusted source. If the site gets those facts right, it’s more likely that the other facts on the site are also accurate.
-Study the language used. Is it angry, satiric or overly impassioned? This may indicate that the site is biased.
-Consider whether the arguments are logical and backed up by evidence, and whether the site presents only one point of view.
-Check the links of the source that the author acknowledges. Scholarly writings, whether in print or online, should include a bibliography

“The right way is not always the popular and easy way. Standing for right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character.”
-Margate Chase Smith
Smith is completely correct when she says this. The right thing is not always honored and is the popular thing to do. However that does not mean that people should give up on doing what is right. When you see something wrong you need to stand up and say something because when you stand up for what is right you show that you have good character and that takes you places. If you missed an assignment you should tell the teacher that you missed it and that character of honesty and great morals will end up helping you.

target online

It’s Online but Is It on Target?
Part 3
Dot-What?
Look at the site’s address. What follows the dot?
-Dot-com is not only for businesses; anyone can use it. Dot-coms include well-known and respected companies, but also private individuals.
-Dot-org usually indicates a not-for-profit organization. Many dot-orgs present unbiased information, but others have political agendas, focused on debates issues instead of facts, and might not present all sides of an argument.
-Dot-gov indicates a government website at the federal, state or local level. The federal government is a good source of statistics, and its site is widely considered among the most reliable.
-Dot-mil is used by sites that are part of the military.
-Dot-edu usually indicates a university website. While its published research is generally considered very trustworthy, anyone associated with the university, whether a world-renowned scholar or a freshman, can be given space on its server. Professors sometimes put student’s course work up on the web, but that doesn’t mean they’re vouching for the information’s accuracy.

“Continuous effort, not strength or intelligence, is the key to unlocking our potential."
-liane Cordes
This is very true effort can take you anywhere you want. It doesn't matter if the person next to you is smart if they don’t have as much effort as you do you will go farther. When you learn something new and don’t get a hang of it you don’t give up you try harder. The people that are experts of what they do try harder and harder each time they do it and put all of their effort into it. When my brother first got into music he was pretty bad. However he wants to pursue a career in music and puts tons of effort in when he play and has become very skilled.

It’s Online, but Is It on Target
Part 2
Research with attitude
Conduct your research with the attitude of a skeptic. As you examine websites for clues that there trustworthy, ask these questions:
-Who wrote the web page? If you can’t identify the individual or organization responsible for the information, don’t use it.
-What are the author’s qualifications for writing on the subjects?
-Has the article passed through an editorial process designed to ensure quality and accuracy?
-What is the website’s purpose? Look for motives – like selling products or winning votes – that could result in biased or incomplete information.
-Is the information accurate? Is it up-to-date?
-Where did the author get this information?

on target and online?

IT’S ONLINE, BUT IS IT ON TARGET
PART 1
Using the Web Wisely
Thanks to the web, information is easy to find. However it is also easy to post something on line. Anyone can do it.
You’ve probably used an internet to do research for a paper, to help you decide which products to buy, or to form an option about current events. Looking up information in line is the fast and convenient. But when you do online research, It’s important to find sites you can trust. Many websites clam to have the facts, but are full of errors. Others present information in a biased way – they only give one side of an argument. How can you tell a reliable source from an unreliable one? Also, it is critical that you post online only that which is descent and appropriate, never anything pornographic, vulgar, indecent, out of taste, untruthful, or obscene. Post those things that will make a good name for you and your organization, that will promote goodwill and be of benefit to the world.

“When an archer misses the mark, he turns and looks for the fault within himself. Failure to hit the bulls eye is never the fault of the target. To improve your aim, improve yourself.”
-Gilbert Arland
This is extremely true with everything it is up to you. When a challenge comes upon you it is you that needs to overcome it. In life the only person that can be at fault for your actions is yourself. My coach told us yesterday before practice ended how state championship is next week and how only we can take  responsibility for what happens next is each and every one of us.

Survey question and review

SQ3R
SQ3R=SURVEY-QUESTION-READ-RECITE-REVIEW
Recite
At the end of each selection, look up from the text and in your own words recite an answer to your question for that selection. Then write down your answer. Be sure to provide examples that support it. Now repeat the Question, Read, and Recite steps for each section. Then read to find the answer. Finally, recite the answer in your own words and jot it down. The written question and answer can help you study in the future.
Review
After completing the chapter, review your notes. Identify the main points by looking for the most important idea in each selection. Recite or write a brief summary of the assignment. Review your study notes every week to help you remember the information. When it is time to prepare for your test, you'll find you’ve created an invaluable study guide.

“The first law of success….. Is concentration; to blend all the energies to one point, and to go directly to that point, looking neither to the right nor to the left.”
-William Mathews
This is very true the only way to get to success is through concentrating. When you concentrate you zone in on what needs to be done. Once that is achieved reaching your goal is easy. You are able to make the right decisions when they are needed to be made, and more importantly you manage your time better and get everything done. When my team started to concentrate and work extremly hard we are now seated number one in solcal.

Survey Questions

SQ3R
SQ3R=survey-Question-Read-Recite-Review
Question
As you survey the text, ask questions for each selection. Ask who, what, where, when, why, and how questions as they relate to the content. Here’s how you can create questions:
-Turn the tittle, heading or subtitle into questions.
-Rewrite the questions at the end of the chapter or after each subheading in your own words.
Write down your questions. Questions help you pay attention, understand the text better and recall the information more easily later on.
Read
Read one section of the chapter at a time, actively looking for an answer to your question for that section. Pay attention to bold and italicized text the authors use to make important points.
Be sure to review everything in the section, including table, graphs, and illustrations – these features can communicate an idea more powerfully than written text.
