“When I was teaching
basketball, I urged my players to try their hardest to improve on that very
day, to make that practice a masterpiece.
This rule is even
more important in life than basketball. You have to apply yourself each day to
become a little better. By applying yourself to the task of becoming a little
better each and every day over a period of time, you will become a lot better.
Only then will you be able to approach being the best you can be. It begins by
trying to make each day count and knowing you can never make up for a lost
day.”
-John Wooden
What wooden is saying is one of the greatest things I have
ever heard. What he is saying is that you have to make every day count. You have
try to get the most out everything you do in like. In practice even though we
are a state ranked team our coach makes play wall ball and has us do it for
about half an hour. They also tell us to treat everything like a game. We do
this to get the most out of everything. By doing that as a team and individuals
we get better every day.
